Cultural
fair ( Sanaskritic Mela ) : A fair is a platform where thousands of people gather and simply forget their enmity of all sorts. In fair they mingle with each other and appreciate each other.
Nicwon tries to uphold the great rich culture of Bengal. We try to draw together efficient performers (in classical dance & music, folk dance & music) from almost every remote corner of West Bengal.
The fair is theme based. For example the theme of the first year was “The district of Purulia”. And the fair ground is decorated according to the theme. The themes of Cultural Fair for last few years were-"Loko sanskritite Rabindranath"(2011),"Loko sanskritite Bhoot"(2010), “150th birth anniversary of Acharya Jagdish Chandra Bose” (2009); “250th year of the Great fight of Palashey & 60th year of Indian Independence” (2008); “The Evolution of Bengali Language” (2007); “150th year of Santal Mutiny”(2006).
The fair ground is divided into four parts. A part of the ground is taken to prepare a stage for the performers. One portion is kept for puppet show. And Nicwon is proud to arrange all the three puppet shows namely String Puppet, Gloves Puppet, and Rod Puppet in every year.
A considerable part of the ground is taken to prepare stalls for Pithes (traditional Bengali sweets) and handicrafts. And the pies are favorites among the crowds and the celebrities and well-wishers who are invited to visit our fair. The rest of the ground is used for exhibition which is based on the theme of the fair. In the exhibition local school students take part. And there also is an exhibition of photography and postal stamps based on the theme of the fair too.
